Description

Honey is the substance made when the nectar and sweet deposits from plants are gathered, modified and stored in the honeycomb by honey bees. The definition of honey stipulates a pure product that does not allow for the addition of any other substance. This includes, but is not limited to, water or other sweeteners.  Honey has been used as both a food and a medicine. It’s very high in beneficial plant compounds and offers several health benefits. Honey is particularly healthy when used instead of refined sugar, which is 100% empty calories.  Choosing honey over refined and processed sugar may lead to long-term health benefitsHoney is known to have antioxidant, antimicrobial, and soothing effects. It is made up of glucose, fructose, and minerals, such as iron, calcium, phosphate, sodium chloride, potassium, and magnesium.  There are various kinds of Honey including Organic, Manuka, Lemon and many more types.  Manuka honey comes from New Zealand and is made by bees that pollinate the flowers of the manuka bush. That why it’s difficult to verify that any honeymanuka or not, is truly organic.
